Abstract
A simple apparatus has been developed for evaluating the effectiveness of surfactants in dispersing No. 6 fuel oil. The measurement, obtained by the drop-weight method and expressed in terms of the critical micelle concentration, is based on reduction of the interfacial tension between oil and water. The procedure described here is faster and less costly than other dispersant test methods.
