Sufficient Conditions for Small Particles to Hold Together Because of Adhesion Forces

An elastic-plastic collision between two small particles or between a small one and a larger one is considered. Adhesion forces are included. It is found that the elastic limit of the particles material is quite frequently reached, sometimes even without initial velocity at all. Conditions for the particles not to have enough energy to overcome the adhesion forces are formulated, and used to calculate conditions for the particles to stick together.
