Influence of the Viscosity on the Growth of Cavitation Bubbles

Numerical calculations have been carried out to investigate the influence of viscosity on the maximum attainable radius for a bubble exposed to a transient pressure pulse. Three types of pulses are considered, a step pulse, a triangular pulse, and a sine pulse. By using a suitable definition of a nondimensional viscosity parameter, it is found that the results for the triangular and the sine pulses can be determined from data for the step pulse.
