Abstract

Cumulative fatigue properties can be explained by the propagation of a preexisting crack. The power law of crack propagation is made dimensionless in order to execute crack propagation calculations without the knowledge of fracture mechanics parameters of the microcrack. The relative parameters are easily derived from constant amplitude test S-N curves.
