We are concerned with the flow of a homogeneous viscous fluid in a straight circular pipe with recessed walls. A study is made of the streamlines, separation phenomena, vorticities, and other features of the flow. We also compare our results with those obtained by a different approach for the case of a viscous flow in a straight channel with recessed walls.
