Abstract

Torsional problems of prismatical bars with cross sections in the shape of isosceles triangles and diamonds are solved by means of a stress function used previously by Saint-Venant for a circular sector. Complete information on the magnitude and location of the maximum shearing stress and on the twisting moment is presented.
